Lydia was a singer and actress, 1901-1974. A description of the photo is written by hand on the reverse. The lower figure with the harp is actress M. Boytler. Scan available.

Lena Ashwell, OBE (1872 - 1957) was a British actress and acting manager, known as the first to organize large-scale entertainment for troops at the front, which she did during World War I. [see Wikipedia]. This is a Lot of Two Pieces - a Real Photo Postcard by Rotary Photo postmarked 1904, and a bold ink signature on an 'autograph card - 'Lena Ashwell'. These cards were sold with envelopes so that the signator could return them to the sender with convenience. From the collection of an unknown who frequented, or worked at, the Empire Theatre in Coventry, and other UK theatres, in the early part of the 19th century. Inexpensive Lettermail postage required. Lydia Bilbrook (1888 - 1990]; sometimes credited as Bilbrooke) was an English actress whose stage and film career spanned four decades. Bilbrook appeared in 23 films between 1916 and 1949; she is probably best known to today's audience as the haughty "Lady Epping" in the popular Mexican Spitfire movie comedies (1939-43) opposite Leon Errol Bold iInk signature on an 'autograph card - 'Yours Sincerely / Lydia Billbrooke'. These cards were sold with envelopes so that the signator could return them to the sender with convenience.
